]]>“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
The apostle Paul is writing to Timothy, his spiritual son in the faith. Timothy is young, gifted, and called—but he’s also facing pressure, persecution, and fear as he leads the church.
Paul encourages him: “Don’t let fear control you—because that spirit didn’t come from God.”
This verse isn’t just motivation—it’s divine revelation about your spiritual identity.
➤ Fear here is not healthy caution—it’s timidity, cowardice, and intimidation.
And Paul says clearly: that spirit didn’t come from God.
If fear is whispering:
That’s not from the Father—it’s from the enemy.
Fear may knock at the door—but it has no authority in your house.
➤ Power (Greek: dunamis) = explosive strength, miraculous ability, supernatural boldness.
This isn’t self-help confidence. This is Spirit-filled courage.
You don’t have to be strong in yourself—you’ve been given God’s power.
➤ This isn’t human love—it’s agape, God’s love. The kind that casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
Love gives you:
When you know you’re deeply loved, you stop living in fear of rejection.
➤ Sound mind = self-control, discipline, clear thinking, mental stability.
Fear clouds your mind. God gives you clarity.
A sound mind means:
You have the mind of Christ—you are not at the mercy of your emotions.
Timothy was feeling the weight of leadership in a hostile environment. Paul reminds him:
“You have everything you need—fear is not your portion. Power, love, and a sound mind are your spiritual DNA.”
This verse still speaks to you when:
God says:
“I didn’t give you fear—I gave you fire. Now walk in it.”
Ask yourself:
You don’t have to fight for victory—you’re fighting from it.
Fear is a spirit—and so is power.
You get to choose which one you agree with.
God’s Spirit in you is not passive.
It’s strong. It’s loving. It’s clear-minded.
And it’s already at work in you.
Fear is loud—but it’s a liar.
Power, love, and truth—those are your weapons.
2 Timothy 1:7 is your spiritual ID card.
It tells you:
“Fear didn’t come from God—and I refuse to let it rule me.
I have power, love, and a sound mind—because the Spirit of God lives in me.”
Say it as a declaration:
“Fear is not mine. God has given me power. He has filled me with love. He has equipped me with a sound mind. I will not shrink back—I will stand strong and walk boldly in my calling.”
