Verse of the Day:
“When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” – Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)
Devotion:
Life can feel like a fire sometimes—hot, heavy, and hard to handle. Whether it’s pressure at work, pain in relationships, or deep personal battles, we all go through moments that test our limits. And in those fiery seasons, it’s easy to wonder: Where is God?
Isaiah 43:2 reminds us of an unshakable truth: God never promised we wouldn’t face the fire—but He did promise we wouldn’t walk through it alone. He said “when,” not “if”—because fire is part of life. But so is His presence.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into a literal furnace for their faith. And what happened? God didn’t stop them from entering the fire—but He stepped in with them. The king saw not three, but four men in the flames—and the fourth looked like “a son of the gods” (Daniel 3:25). That fourth person is the same faithful Jesus who walks into every trial with you.
You may not see Him right away. You may feel the heat rising. But you are not alone. The flames may roar, but they won’t consume you. The fire may burn, but it’s refining—not destroying—you.
Sometimes the fire reveals what couldn’t be seen in comfort: the strength of your faith, the nearness of God, and the miracle of His protection.
Hold on, friend. If you’re in the fire, you’re also in the company of the One who commands it.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that no matter what fire I walk through, You walk with me. I admit that there are times when the heat feels too much and I feel overwhelmed. But You promised that the flames would not consume me. Help me to trust You in the middle of the fire—to see Your presence, to feel Your peace, and to know that You are in control. Strengthen me through this trial. Purify me, refine me, and make me more like You. I choose to believe that even in the fire, I am not alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection Questions:
- What “fire” are you currently walking through in your life?
- How can you remind yourself daily that God is with you, even if you can’t see Him yet?
- What has God taught you through past seasons of fire?
