Jesus Is Coming Again—And the Bible Tells Us What to Watch For
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is one of the most significant promises in the Bible. It is the moment when Jesus will return to earth in glory and power to judge evil, gather His people, and establish His eternal kingdom.
“They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” – Matthew 24:30
Unlike His first coming in humility as a suffering servant, Jesus’ return will be public, powerful, and undeniable. And while the exact day and hour are unknown, the Bible gives us clear signs to watch for, so believers can be awake, alert, and prepared.

Key Signs of Jesus’ Second Coming
1. Widespread Deception and False Christs
Jesus warned that in the last days, many would come claiming to be the Messiah, leading people astray.
“Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name… and will deceive many.” – Matthew 24:4–5
2. Wars, Famines, and Earthquakes
Natural and geopolitical turmoil will increase. These events are described as “birth pains”—signs of what’s to come.
“Nation will rise against nation… there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” – Matthew 24:7–8
3. Increased Persecution of Believers
Christians will be hated, arrested, and even killed for their faith. Many will fall away under pressure.
“You will be hated by all nations because of Me.” – Matthew 24:9
4. A Surge in Lawlessness and Moral Decline
Love for truth will grow cold as sin becomes more accepted. Rebellion against God’s authority will rise.
“Because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” – Matthew 24:12
5. The Gospel Will Be Preached Worldwide
One of the most hopeful signs: the message of Jesus will reach every nation before the end.
“This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world… and then the end will come.” – Matthew 24:14
6. The Rise of the Antichrist
A powerful, deceptive world leader will emerge, demanding worship and leading a global rebellion against God (2 Thessalonians 2:3–4; Revelation 13).
7. The Great Tribulation
There will be a time of intense suffering and judgment on the earth, unlike anything in human history (Matthew 24:21–22).
8. Celestial Signs and Cosmic Disturbances
The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall—signaling the imminent return of Christ.
“Immediately after the distress… the sun will be darkened… then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven.” – Matthew 24:29–30
9. The Trumpet Call and Gathering of Believers
When Jesus returns, there will be a loud trumpet, and believers—both living and dead—will be gathered to Him.
“For the Lord Himself will descend… with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16
How Should We Respond?
Jesus didn’t give us these signs to make us afraid, but to make us ready.
- Stay spiritually awake (Matthew 24:42)
- Live in holiness and hope (1 Peter 1:13–16)
- Keep sharing the Gospel (2 Timothy 4:2)
- Encourage one another with this hope (1 Thessalonians 4:18)
Final Reminder
No one knows the exact day or hour of Jesus’ return (Matthew 24:36). But He will come, just as He promised—and the signs remind us that the time is drawing near.
“Behold, I am coming soon.” – Revelation 22:12
